Southwest Artisans' Cooperative (SAC)
was founded and organized April 18, 2007
by Richard Hillman, Lessandra Grimley,
and Norma Sigretto. All three artists live
in the tri-state areas of Arizona, Nevada
and California. Seeing a need for a place
where local artists could gather to display
and sell their artwork, they found a
location in Bullhead City on Highway 95;
and in July 2007 they opened to the public.
The Southwest Artisans’ Cooperative Art
Gallery was open from July 2007 to July
2008 and then, due to the poor economy,
closed its doors. During that time, SAC
expanded from eight members to twenty-
one members, with a wonderfully diverse
display of oil, acrylic and watercolor paintings, pottery, one-of-a-kind jewelry, sculpture, stained glass, prints, note cards, and mosaic artwork.
Four months after opening, Southwest
Artisans’ Cooperative started art classes,
with artist, Bernard Brown, kicking off
with an acrylics class. Soon after, artists Molly Barnett and Janet Bour started classes in wire-wrap jewelry and stained glass, respectively. Other classes offered have been sketching, collage, mixed media, seminars in Art History and Artist’s Copyrights.
