Cutting and Grinding: Tips For Grinding

After the cutting your glass pieces, the trickiest part of properly finishing each piece is the grinding process. Grinding takes a lot of finesse, because a moment of letting your mind wander can mean a deep gouge in a previously perfectly-cut glass piece and you get to start all over again. Or worse, a deep gouge out of you!

So the first tip is...FOCUS! When the grinder is on, let it be your only focus. A good trick is to turn your grinder on, focus completely and then turn it off before moving on to another piece. This will keep you from being distracted with another part of the project or some other thing in your studio and then turning back to grinder before restoring your full focus to the task at hand.
