A craft knife is a basic workbench tool. Craft knives are similar to the brand-named X-acto knife, but are slightly larger and have heavier blades. It's good to purchase spare blades whenever you purchase either a craft knife or an x-acto knife if they don't come with extras. Keep you spare blades in a very dry place because they are very prone to rusting if put away for many months (or years).

Be careful regarding keeping your x-acto or craft knife stored in the same area as your other hand tools, since it is easy to reach for another tool and cut yourself badly on the craft knife. Prices for these run around $5 for either a craft knife or an x-acto knife.
